UConn FSAE has grown from a small group of students to a competitive team in the Formula SAE community. In 2026, we placed 4th overall out of 117 teams at FSAE Michigan IC, and 5th overall out of 88 teams with our second ever EV car.
Our mission is to design, build, and race high-performance formula-style vehicles while providing hands-on learning experiences in fields such as engineering and business. We are a club where we aim to foster innovation, teamwork, and technical excellence.
We compete in events like Formula SAE Michigan and Formula SAE Electric, where we travel across the nation to test our vehicles against other top universities. These competitions help us refine our engineering skills and teamwork.
Joining provides hands-on experience in designing, building, and testing a race car, enhancing a plethora of skills beyond just engineering. You'll network with peers and industry professionals, opening doors to internships and job opportunities. Competitions like Formula SAE Michigan let you showcase your innovation and hard work. Companies highly value Formula SAE experience, making it a standout on your resume. There are no specific requirements to join—just a passion for learning and teamwork.
